Two weeks and counting!

Thought I'd take a second away from my mounds of work to update a bit....so here goes!

#1 most exciting thing: TECH BEAT UGA LAST NIGHT!!!!!! In a complete upset, it was amazing. Ashley, Shannon and I went to our favorite little canadian bar to watch the game, and I'm so glad we did! It was sad not to be able to see it in person or at least be surrounded by people who cared (I think everyone in the bar thought we were crazy by the end of the game...we were excited). I also got another helping of American burgers and brownie sundaes....ALMOST enough to not make me miss it!

#2 most exciting thing: I finished my dissertation on Friday, meaning that now I just have my expose for Tuesday, a film summary for French, another expose on the 16th and a paper due the week I leave. ticking off the hurdles and getting closer to coming home!

#3 most exciting thing: for all my papers and classes and everything I've been having to do a ton of reading in French, and recently i've been noticing that, from time to time, I don't initially recognize that I'm reading something in French instead of English. For example, last week when I went to church, Ashley got the last pamphlet, but the woman told me there were more down the stairs on the table. I picked one up on my way in, and got halfway through the service (reading the pamphlet) before i realized that i had accidentally picked up the pamphlet for the french service at 5pm, not the english one at 7pm (aka it was all in French). Now, if I can only start SPEAKING in French more...

#4 most exciting thing: I got a second Thanksgiving dinner! The Center for Americas put one on on Wednesday...I made another pie and had more deliciousness :).

And that's my life recently...it will be much more interesting once all this work is done!!

Yay for you not being able to distinguish French and English! I loved that...just wait until you are surrounded by family and friends asking about your experiences and you can't think in English! Haha. I'm glad the Center did another Thanksgiving! I had fun there last year. I know you're excited to return- bonne chance on your assignments!!
